Former LIFE OR DEATH PR and MANAGEMENT execs NICK DIERL, DUNCAN WILL, BRADLEY BLEDSOE, EMILY MULLEN and LINDA VALENZIANO have reorganized as a brand-new company, LIBERAL ARTS, which is being backed by KNITTING FACTORY ENTERTAINMENT.
The company dissolved amid a sexual harassment scandal involving its owner/founder HEATHCLIFF BERRU, who was accused of misconduct in a series of tweets posted by DIRTY PROJECTORS' AMBER COFFMAN, followed by several women, including BEST COAST's BETHANY CONSENTINO and SKY FERREIRA. BERRU then resigned the company and checked himself into rehab for what he described as drug and alcohol addiction (NET NEWS 1/20). Remaining clients who will follow them to the new venture include KILLER MIKE and WET.
IAN WHEELER, President of KNITTING FACTORY RECORDS, FIGURE EIGHT MANAGEMENT and FIGURE EIGHT MEDIA, released a statement: "I will serve as managing director for the new entity, which will be 100% owned by FIGURE EIGHT PUBLICITY, a subsidiary of KNITTING FACTORY ENTERTAINMENT. An equity position will also being carved out for the founders of the new entity in the coming months. Mr. BERRU is no longer a party to our organization and will not take part in our new venture, nor own an equity position. All ties have been cut.”
