AMAZON's AUDIBLE audiobook service is expanding its reach into original programming, reports BLOOMBERG, which notes that the company has recently posted job opportunities indicating an expansion of its initiative to offer more original shows.
Among the additions will be a series with comedians like MARIA BAMFORD and JONATHAN KATZ reading fairy tale parodies, "BEDTIME STORIES." The company declined comment to BLOOMBERG on the new shows and whether they will be marketed separately or as part of the monthly AUDIBLE subscription, but BLOOMBERG noted the recent hires from WNYC/NEW YORK made by AUDIBLE's ERIC NUZUM, formerly at NPR, and the company's participation in a recruiting fair in NEW JERSEY this week as indications that the original programming push is moving forward.
