TROYE SIVAN was the guest of honor as iHEARTRADIO hosted an exclusive 60-minute live event featuring his performance on the HONDA STAGE at the iHEARTRADIO THEATER in LOS ANGELES. The occasion was to celebrate his album that debuted last month, "Blue Neighborhood," as well as his new single ”Youth.”
SIVAN performed "Youth," along with many of the songs from his recent album, as well as chatting with host ALEX.
"iHEARTRADIO LIVE with TROYE SIVAN streamed across iHEARTMEDIA radio stations as well as iHeartRadio.com.
Highlights of the evening included TROYE speaking of his breakthrough on YOUTUBE, and his pridde in that because it's the way of the future. He alos explained how he wrote his debut album with his friends over the course of a year and a half, a very therapeutic experience as a result of the songs being completely autobiographical.
SIVAN explained his favorite song from the album is “Heaven," in which he wrote about his coming out experience, with the lyrics accurately capturing how he was feeling at the time. The song was written about all of the questions he had when he realized he might not be straight— Would he have a family? Would he be with someone forever? Would he still become a singer?
SIVAN went on to explain how he's so thankful to be in this position and wants to let anyone who is out there struggling with something similar, that they are his absolute hero and they will get through it.
When asked by host ALEX what he misses most about AUSTRALIA, he said that people are very chill there and he loves that vibe. He also misses the really good coffee.
Questioned about how he balances his personal life with work, TROYE said that he still doesn’t feel famous — rather that he just has a weird job that feels very cool and surreal. His personal life and work life have truly blended into one — his family even comes on tour with him, making it easy not to feel homesick.
