THE GRID NYC: is not just a music festival, but a music initiative that celebrates the art of music, its power to connect people all over the world, and most importantly, the value of the artists and musicians that create it, slated to take place in 20 venues located from NEW YORK CITY's MEATPACKING DISTRICT to BROOKLYN from MAY 4th-7th.
Tickets go on sale FEBRUARY 12th at thegridnyc.com.
The four-day event will feature over 100 multi-genre live performances, special curated music events, inspiring “Storyteller Sessions” and endless opportunities for learning and inspiration. A series of 12 sessions dubbed THE GRID 101 will help guide up-and-coming artists and musicians on how to navigate today’s complex music industry.
THE GRID will feature intimate performances from bands and solo artists including ST. LUCIA, FRANK TURNER, QUESTLOVE and BUTCH WALKER, plus new, emerging artists like WHITE SEA (M83''s MORGAN KIBBY), BEACON, SAM KING, and other fan favorites.
Speakers will include industry experts like famed music producer BRIAN ENO, PUBLIC ENEMY’s CHUCK D, JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist DAVE NAVARRO, hip-hop artist, civil leader and activist KILLER MIKE from RUN THE JEWELS, and many more to come.
Special events include a “WARPED TOUR Rewind” curated by KEVIN LYMAN, an “Emo Re-Boot” curated by DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL's CHRIS CARRABBA, and a very special music showcase curated by COMMUNION MUSIC, the artist development company founded by MUMFORD & SONS' BEN LOVETT.
Additional talent and programming will be announced weekly beginning FEBRUARY 19th.
Via THE GRID’s website, fans, influencers and tastemakers will be able to recommend new and undiscovered bands and artists that they feel have what it takes to be showcased.
Commented THE GRID founder ERIC MURPHY: “Unlike other music festivals that charge bands and artists a fee to apply for the chance to be showcased, we want passionate music fans to tell us who they’ve discovered; ultimately it’s the fans who determine the success of an artist."
THE GRID’s music team, comprised of 10 very well-respected music industry vets, will select less than 50 fan nominated bands and solo artists to open for the headline talent.
THE GRID is created and produced by experiential marketing and music agency POP2LIFE in conjunction with AZOFF MSG ENTERTAINMENT.
