Bill Simmons' New Web Venture: 'The Ringer'

BILL SIMMONS' new post-GRANTLAND "digital venture" now has a name and site: "THE RINGER," a website that will house SIMMONS and his staff's writing, will launch with an e-mail newsletter in MARCH with the site up and running by late spring at theringer.com. The site will be part of BILL SIMMONS MEDIA GROUP along with his BILL SIMMONS PODCAST NETWORK and his upcoming TV work at HBO.
CNN reports that several former GRANTLAND staffers cut loose when ESPN shuttered that site after SIMMONS' departure are slated to be part of THE RINGER, with SEAN FENNESSEY as Editor-in-Chief, and former GRANTLAND staffers CRAIG GAINES, BRYAN CURTIS, RYAN O'HANLON, DANNY CHAU, RILEY MCATEE, JOE FUENTES, and TATE FRAZIER among the new hires. AMANDA DOBBINS, formerly of GLAMOUR, will serve as Deputy Editor for Culture.
