REPUBLIC RECORDS U.K. troubadour and Best New Artist nominee JAMES BAY turned the GRAMMY telecast into this personal SHAZAM moment.
BAY's mash-up of his own "Let It Go" with fellow nominee TORI KELLY's "Personal" proved one of thehighlights of the show, emerging as the "Most SHAZAEM'ed Performance" of the night.
The performance racked up over 100,000 SHAZAMs, clinching the #1 spot by a margin of over 15,000.
BAY also ignited an online explosion which saw his chart-topping 2015 full-length debut album, "Chaos And The Calm" experience an impressive 467% increase on iTUNES overnight from the previous day — the largest of any album nominated on the show, soaring Top 10 on the iTUNES overall album chart. Meanwhile, his hit single “Let It Go” achieved a 651% increase, soaring to #3 on the iTUNES singles chart and #1 on the alternative chart. The performance resulted in “JAMES BAY” trending worldwide on TWITTER and FACEBOOK.
Later this month, BAY will perform at the prestigious BRIT AWARDS, where he's tied with ADELE and YEARS & YEARS for the most nominations at the ceremony, vying for “Best BRITISH Breakthrough Act,” “BRITISH Male Solo Artist,” “BRITISH Single of the Year” for “Hold Back The River,” and “BRITISH Album of the Year” for "Chaos And The Calm." Fans can vote for BAY on TWITTER for “Best BRITISH Breakthrough Act” by using the hashtag #BRITBREAKJAMESBAY.
