New FCC AM MDCL Rule To Become Effective March 3rd
February 18, 2016 at 11:19 AM (PT)
The FCC has announced that the new rules allowing AM stations to use Modulation Dependent Carrier Level (MDCL) control technology without prior Commission authority if the stations notify the Commission using online Form 338 within 10 days will take effect on MARCH 3rd.
The rule change was part of the AM Revitalization Order released last OCTOBER 23rd and published in the Federal Register on JANUARY 19th. The MDCL rule was the only change that did not take effect TODAY because it contained a new information collection procedure that required OMB approval.
