The FCC has fined PECONIC PUBLIC BROADCASTING $10,000 for public file violations at noncommercial WPPB/SOUTHAMPTON, NY.
PPB disclosed in its license renewal application that the Station’s public file was missing 13 quarterly issues-programs lists starting when the licensee took over operation of the station in DECEMBER 2010, but had later recreated the lists based on program logs housed in the same room as the public file at the station. PPB had asked for a reduction in the fine because the violation was inadvertent and not willful, but the Commission said that reduction would occur only if the station could prove financial hardship, and that the licensee's counsel had not responded to three requests for financial documentation to demonstrate the claimed hardship.
The Commission did, however, grant the stations' license renewal.
