Report: Hulk Hogan Settled With Bubba The Love Sponge For $5,000

CNN is reporting that HULK HOGAN, embroiled in a high-profile lawsuit with GAWKER MEDIA over the publication of a sex tape, settled with BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE, whose ex-wife was in the tape with HOGAN, for $5,000. After settlement, CNN says, BUBBA, who had claimed HOGAN knew the tape was being made, "walked that back."
BUBBA has denied being the source of the leak and has filed a motion with the court asking that he be excluded from HOGAN's case; his attorney has said that BUBBA would plead the Fifth Amendment if forced to testify.
HOGAN is seeking $100 million from GAWKER, which cited the $5,000 settlement in a statement released at the opening of the trial to suggest that the value HOGAN placed on his damage was based on GAWKER's deeper pockets, but his attorney responded that the damage inflicted upon HOGAN from BUBBA was much less than that inflicted by GAWKER.
On his show last week, BUBBA said, "This HOGAN trial deal is just, man, I know that I've plead the Fifth because I'm done. Basically I plead the Fifth because I'm done being people's pin cushion around here. And it's not about me. It's about HOGAN and GAWKER, and I hope that GAWKER has to pay him a lot of money. Period."
BUBBA has maintained that he had nothing to do with the release of the tape to GAWKER and that the tape was stolen from his possession; former BUBBA employee MATT "SPICE BOY" LOYD was named in connection with the theft, although no charges were filed against LOYD by the State Attorney despite a report by the TAMPA Police Department alleging that LOYD had stolen sex tape DVDs and contacted a broker named KEITH DAVIDSON to allegedly try and extort HOGAN (NET NEWS 11/15/2015). At the time, the State Attorney's office in HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY said, "We reviewed the case in great detail -- the TPD report is only part of the overall investigation. We came to the conclusion that we had no reasonable expectation of success in prosecution."
