March 14, 2016 at 9:08 AM (PT)
The RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION's annual Sunshine Week, focused on open government and transparency, is this week, MARCH 13-19. WEDNESDAY (3/16) is National Freedom of Information Day, the day conceived by WESTWOOD ONE's JIM BOHANNON and designed to fall on JAMES MADISON's birthday. RTDNA Executive Director MIKE CAVENDER and SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS President PAUL FLETCHER will guest on BOHANNON's syndicated show that day.
"As the Freedom of Information Act turns 50 years old, we continue to see misguided attempts to undermine its principles by government agencies, members of Congress and state legislatures around the country," said CAVENDER. "Now more than ever, Americans should understand the need for transparency in government and having public access to the public's business."
CAVENDER is also available for interviews about Sunshine Week and freedom of information issues; Reach him at (770) 622-7011 or email@example.com.
