Capitol Records Welcomes Ben Rector And Gavin James To The Fonda Theater
March 21, 2016 at 3:51 AM (PT)
THURSDAY (3/17) was a ST. PATRICK's DAY to remember as CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP welcomed their radio and music friends out to a packed house at the FONDA THEATER in HOLLYWOOD for a live performance by their rising stars BEN RECTOR and GAVIN JAMES.
Irishman GAVIN JAMES opened the show armed with just an acoustic guitar, some great songs and an amazing delivery. JAMES played his hit "Bitter Pill" along with a MICHAEL JACKSON cover of "Billie Jean" and more. At one point, he unplugged his guitar completely and walked to the center of the theater where he performed a cappella without amplification or a microphone as the crowd quietly sang along.
Headliner BEN RECTOR then kicked off his set seated at the piano to perform his song "Make Something Beautiful." He was then joined by his band and jumped right into his current single "Brand New" which is now climbing rapidly to #19* at Hot AC.
RECTOR and his band took the audience through a musical excursion of pop, funk, folk, rock and blues with honest relatable lyrics about life. The set included other crowd pleasers such as "Favorite Song", "Never Gonna Let You Go" (complete with a couple of verses of "My Girl") "Let The Good Times Roll" and more. One highlight of the evening was an acoustic section of the show where the band brought out the mandolin, accordion, and brushes for the songs "Fear," and "Forever Like That."
Some of the radio and music VIPs in attendance included ANDREW JEFFRIES and BRANDON BELL (KBIG), PREMIERE NETWORK's JOSH MEDLOCK, and ALL ACCESS' JOEL DENVER, LEAH ADAMS and MARK STRICKLAND.
Big thanks to CAROLINE/HARVEST Co-GM PIERO GIRAMONTI and our CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP hosts, PATTY MORRIS, MEGAN YOUNGBLOOD and TONY BRACY and for a great night of music, fun, and MOSCOW MULES!
