ALPHA MEDIA PORTLAND, OR has announced that Triple A KINK has entered into a partnership agreement with YR&G, a sustainably consulting firm based in NEW YORK. This partnership will help guide the radio station on a path to becoming the first radio station in the U.S. to go carbon neutral.
Part of implementing this program will include a partnership with LAND ROVER of PORTLAND, which is entering its 10th year of being the only carbon-neutral LAND ROVER dealership in the world. Plus, many of KINK’s wearables are provided by LOOPTWORKS, a local PORTLAND-based upcycling company adding to the reduction of carbon emissions.
KINK will be sharing all the steps in the process to obtaining carbon neutral status with its KINK community and encouraging other businesses to do the same.
ALPHA MEDIA EVP/Programming, SCOTT MAHALICK said, “Being environmentally conscious has always been part of KINK’s DNA, but now we get to take action and become 100% carbon neutral in a measurable way.”
ALPHA MEDIA SVP/Market Manager, MILT MCCONNELL said, “Our KINK Community cares about the environment here in OREGON. This is a natural extension of our community outreach in leading the way to help our partners understand the process of making a difference by following our journey to carbon-neutral status. YR&G are the experts and leaders in sustainability here in PORTLAND, and we are very excited about working with them to earn accreditation.”
“YR&G is thrilled to be supporting ALPHA MEDIA and KINK in this journey to carbon neutrality. As a radio station focused on PORTLAND music and culture, KINK's commitment really embodies the adage ‘think global, act local’ as they implement a response to an international challenge with homegrown solutions. Perhaps even more important than the direct positive impacts of KINK's endeavor will be the ripple effect as they share the story of their quest with partners and listeners, inspiring countless others to follow their lead and take action,” YR&G FAIA, Dir. ALAN SCOTT, .
