Erik Bauersfeld, Former KPFA/Berkeley Drama Chief And Voice Of Star Wars' Admiral Ackbar, Dies

ERIK BAUERSFELD, the former longtime PACIFICA Variety KPFK/BERKELEY-SAN FRANCISCO Drama and Literature Director who achieved late international acclaim as the voice of Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna in the "STAR WARS" movies, died SUNDAY (4/3) at 93, the station announced.
BAUERSFELD joined KPFA in 1961 and developed the station's arts and humanities programming, He left in 1992 to work on theater projects, including his own BAY AREA RADIO DRAMA (BARD). He also did voice work in other movies, including STEVEN SPIELBERG's "A.I.: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE" and GUILLERMO DEL TORO's "CRIMSON PEAK."
