The trial in MANUELA HERZER's suit against former VIACOM and CBS CORPORATION chairman SUMNER REDSTONE will be public, LOS ANGELES COUNTY Superior Court Judge DAVID J. COWAN tentatively ruled on WEDNESDAY (4/27).
COWAN denied a motion by REDSTONE's attorneys to block parts of the trial from the public; media organizations had opposed the attempt to seal parts of the trial, which COWAN said would not be practical.
A hearing on MONDAY will determine whether REDSTONE will have to testify in the trial, which is set to start on MAY 6th. HERZER, REDSTONE's former girlfriend, is suing over her ouster as his healthcare representative and hinges on REDSTONE's mental competency at the time of her removal in favor of VIACOM CEO PHILIPPE DAUMAN.
