“It was a tremendous day of music in AUSTIN.” That’s iHEARTMEDIA RVP/Programming GREGG SWEDBERG, who also programs Country KEEY (K102)/MINNEAPOLIS, describing the third annual iHEART COUNTRY FESTIVAL, which took place on SATURDAY (4/30) at the FRANK ERWIN CENTER in AUSTIN, TX.
“It started with CHRIS LANE, MAREN MORRIS, LOCASH, GRANGER SMITH and the incredibly popular BOBBY BONES & THE RAGING IDIOTS at the iHEARTCOUNTRY FESTIVAL VILLAGE. It was really cool to see the passion that AUSTIN brought,” added SWEDBERG.
“The show itself was phenomenal,” he continued. “I could do paragraphs about how great everyone was. FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE debuted ‘H.O.L.Y.,’ and CHRIS YOUNG brought out CASSADEE POPE for their new #1, ‘Think Of You.’ ZAC BROWN BAND did a phenomenal tribute to PRINCE with ‘Let’s Go Crazy;’ truly a WOW moment. THOMAS RHETT played his hits, but really pumped the crowd up with his CD track ‘Vacation.’ LEE BRICE and JERROD NIEMANN played their awesome new song ‘A Little More Love,’ BRETT ELDREDGE classed up the joint with his hits, and COLE SWINDELL really brought the emotion to ‘You Should Be Here.’ SAM HUNT probably got hugged 200 times during his set. KEITH URBAN is SO GOOD live, and he played his new hit ‘Wasted Time.’ MIRANDA LAMBERT looked and sounded great closing the show with a very loud ‘Gunpowder and Lead.’ It’s so cool to have so much talent in one place, and it really is the best one-day gathering of Country music. An amazing production that runs like a fine-tuned MASERATI.”
Also on hand, iHEARTMEDIA CENTRAL TEXAS Region APD/MD and KAJA/SAN ANTONIO-based BREE WAGNER, who tells ALL ACCESS: “Overall, this event continues to amaze me year after year. One of the highlights for me was definitely the DAYTIME VILLAGE. The fact that it was a newly added event for the FESTIVAL and that there were thousands of people in attendance jamming out before the sold out show inside was pretty epic. Between the ZAC BROWN BAND paying tribute to PRINCE, to FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE debuting a brand their brand new song to EARL DIBBLES JR making a special cameo during the show, it was definitely a part of Country music history that none of us will ever forget.”
