SAGA COMMUNICATIONS’ JONESBORO RADIO GROUP/JONESBORO, AR is looking for an OM for the six-station group, following the announcement that 18-year cluster vet CHRISTIE MATTHEWS is (gasp!) retiring from the business, with her final day set for FRIDAY, JUNE 3rd. The JONESBORO group includes Country KDXY, which MATTHEWS also programs day-to-day; Classic Rock KEGI; AC KJBX; Rhythmic Top 40 KDXY-HD2; Sports KDXY-HD3; and Classic Country KJBX-HD2.
Under an ALL ACCESS JOB DIRECTORY posting titled “Take This Job And Love It,” GM TREY STAFFORD encourages candidates to vie for the chance to join SAGA, “with its six radio stations that just sparkle with respect from the market. You won’t believe our facilities. No radio company puts more pride and support in its facilities like SAGA has in JONESBORO.” Send materials plus a letter describing how you make radio magic to STAFFORD here.
MATTHEWS announced her news via FACEBOOK last WEEK, saying, in part, "To my family at JONESBORO RADIO GROUP, I love you and I'm so proud of you. Your friendship and love I will carry with me always. You have each played a role in who I am. You pushed me, you challenged me, you encouraged me, you frustrated me at times, but that's what families do. I'll still be living in JONESBORO, working in PARAGOULD, as I have accepted the role of Dir./Business Development for the MF BLOCK, Strategic and Transportation Specialist family of companies." MATTHEWS was elevated to her current OM position in 2013 (NET NEWS 8/26/2013); the 26-year radio pro has been a valuable member of the CRS Agenda Committee for many years. Reach her here.
