The "2016 CMT MUSIC AWARDS" were held last NIGHT (6/8) at BRIDGESTONE ARENA in NASHVILLE. KEITH URBAN opened the night with his "RIPCORD TOUR" buddies BRETT ELDREDGE and MAREN MORRIS backing him up on "Wasted Time." Additional performances on the night included DIERKS BENTLEY with ELLE KING sharing BENTLEY's latest single, "Different For Girls;" BLAKE SHELTON and THE OAK RIDGE BOYS collaborating on "Doin' It To Country Songs" from SHELTON's latest album and the OAKS classic "Elvira;" CARRIE UNDERWOOD with her powerful hit "Church Bells;" FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE stripping it down -- musically -- with "H.O.L.Y;" THOMAS RHETT tearing it up with his chart-topper, "T-Shirt;" LUKE BRYAN taking us "Huntin', Fishin', and Lovin' Every Day;" JASON ALDEAN making the "Lights Come On;" CHRIS STAPLETON delivering his current single "Parachute;" and more. There were also multiple off-genre performances from PITBULL, LEONA LEWIS, FIFTH HARMONY, and CHEAP TRICK. But that's a different piece of news.
Winners on the night included: CMT Social Superstar BLAKE SHELTON; CMT Performance Of The Year CARRIE UNDERWOOD for "Smoke Break;" Breakthrough Video Of The Year CHRIS STAPLETON for "Fire Away;" Group/Duo Video Of The Year LITTLE BIG TOWN for "Girl Crush;" Female Video Of The Year CARRIE UNDERWOOD for "Smoke Break;" Male Video Of The Year THOMAS RHETT for "Die A Happy Man;" and Video Of The Year TIM MCGRAW for "Humble And Kind." If you missed the show, recaps, acceptance speeches, and performance videos are all available on CMT's website.
