KCRW/L.A. And The Hammer Museum Launch 'Disappear Here: Music Made In L.A.' Series In July

SANTA MONICA COLLEGE NPR station KCRW and HAMMER MUSEUM are once again partnering this JULY to present four THURSDAY nights of live bands and DJ sets as part of KCRW's SUMMER NIGHTS series. Free and open to the public, this year's series, "Disappear Here: Music Made in L.A.," features live concerts from noteworthy L.A. musicians, and sets from KCRW DJs, in the HAMMER MUSEUM courtyard.
The series kicks off on THURSDAY, JULY 7th with the daytime disco DJ set from local duo POOLSIDE (né FILIP NIKOLIC and JEFFREY PARADISE), whose debut album, "Pacific Standard Time," is a "blissed-out fully realized" effort. Producer, arranger, composer, musician, radio host, and DJ CARLOS NINO & FRIENDS also perform and KCRW's AARON BYRD launches the evening with his own DJ set.
On JULY 14th, L.A.-based STONES THROW RECORDS celebrates their 20th anniversary with a headlining set from record label founder/DJ PEANUT BUTTER WOLF, who has also discovered MAYER HAWTHORNE, MADLIB and ANDERSON .PAAK, with labelmate MNDSGN performing tracks off of his debut album, "Yawn Zen" and an opening set from KCRW DJ MATHIEU SCHREYER.
JULY 21st features TIJUANA-raised CECI BASTIDA with her blend of LATIN, electronica, rock, hip-hop and social commentary. Her latest solo album, "La Edad De La Violencia (The Age Of Violence) includes songs influenced by the rise of everyday violence in the US and Mexico. KCRW's ANTHONY VALADEZ starts off the evening with a DJ set.
The series closes on JULY 28th, with YOUNG ART RECORDS PRESENTS TOKiMONSTA featuring vocalist AMBRE and additional special guests. YOUNG ART was created to provide a home for her work, and to help nurture the creative output of artists she believes in. The label's releases include TOKI's collaborations with breakout artist ANDERSON .PAAK as well as MONTREAL producer CRi's "Tell Her" EP. The vening starts off with a DJ set by KCRW's TRAVIS HOLCOMBE.
