SALEM Business WBZW-A/ORLANDO afternoon "MY HOMETOWN" host JIM TURNER was pulled off the air TUESDAY (6/14) after posting comments criticizing the victims of the ORLANDO murders as "sexual deviants" not worthy of sympathy.
The ORLANDO SENTINEL reports that TURNER did not host his show TUESDAY after the post appeared; TURNER's Facebook account was deleted but a screenshot showed that TURNER posted, "Watch now as the news stations hang around at another homosexual hang out as if we're supposed to feel sorry for sexual deviancy." The APOPKA VOICE cited another post from MONDAY saying, “50 homosexuals die hanging out at some sorry bar. As per the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, 3000 babies are murdered every day. I’ll make you a deal, I’ll go along with an outright ban of assault rifles if it also includes an outright ban on abortions, abortion doctors and abortion clinics.”
“This person has been suspended and subject to review,” GM BILL FILES told the VOICE. “He in no way speaks for the SALEM MEDIA GROUP. These were his own opinions posted on his personal Facebook page. We will not tolerate these type of comments.” TURNER had previously posted comments criticizing the late MUHAMMAD ALI (whom he referred to by his previous name CASSIUS CLAY) as being "cowardly" and PRINCE for drug use. But TURNER told the VOICE, “Anybody that knows me knows that I’m not bigoted. I don’t hate anybody. As a Christian I cannot hate anybody. There’s no prejudice in me.”
