16th World Soundtrack Awards Announced For Ghent, Belgium

FILM FEST GENT announced the full program for the 16th WORLD SOUNDTRACK AWARDS, which will showcase the music composed for today’s top television shows and for legendary series from the past, performed live by BRUSSELS PHILHARMONIC and the FLEMISH RADIO CHOIR, conducted by DIRK BROSSE, on OCTOBER 19th at the CAPITOLE GHENT in BELGIUM.
The new titles of the concert program include MURRAY GOLD's "Doctor Who,' DAVID CARBONARA's "Mad Men," JOHN LUNN's "The White Queen" and DANIEL PEMBERTON's "Upstairs, Downstairs." The concert also comprises the world première of ALEX HEFFES' score for the brand-new series "Roots." Also covered is the score for the BRITISH miniseries "Parade's End," composed by maestro DIRK BROSSE. As always, the music will be accompanied by film clips projected on the big screen.
Several composers will make their way to the stage of the GHENT CAPITOLE for what is often the first live rendition of their scores in front of an audience. Previously announced were JEFF RUSSO's score from "Fargo," SEAN CALLERY's "Homeland," JEFF BEAL's "House Of Cards," DAVID ARNOLD's "Sherlock" and MAC RICHTER's "The Leftovers."
There will also be an Award Ceremony during which JAPANESE composer RYUICHCI SAKAMOTO will receive a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, with a selection of his greatest work performed, including his famous compositions for NAGISA OSHIMA's "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence," BERNARDO BERTOLUCCI's "The Last Emperor" and BRIAN DE PALMA’s "Snake Eyes."
The following day, OCTOBER 20th, there will be a reprise the concert of the best scores for contemporary TV series. An additional program looks back at the thrilling scores and tunes of legendary series from the past, including JERRY GOLDSMITH's "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and "Doctor Kildare," ALEXANDER COURAGE's "Star Trek," BILL CONTI's "Dynasty," LALO SCHIFRIN's "MIssion: Impossible" and ENNIO MORRICONE's score for the miniseries, "Moses." The '90s are presented by ANGELO BADALEMENTI's memorable score for DAVID LYNCH's "Twin Peaks" and RYUICHI SAKAMOTO's for the OLIVER STONE-produced "Wild Palms."
The 43rd FILM FEST GENT runs from OCTOBER 11th to 21st. The 16th WORLD SOUNDTRACK AWARDS take place on OCTOBER 19th and 20th.
