TOWNSQUARE MEDIA Hot AC KCIX (MIX 106)/BOISE morning co-host MIKE KASPER underwent surgery for prostate cancer on TUESDAY (6/14) and will be off the air while he recovers, the host told listeners MONDAY.
In a message on the station's website, KASPER said he was "completely blindsided" by the diagnosis and, while it was caught at an early stage, the cancer, he added, is "a fairly aggressive and high grade form of cancer" requiring immediate surgery to remove his prostate and the lymph nodes in his hips.
KASPER said that he hopes to return to the air "at least on a limited basis by the end of the month or early JULY." Co-host NICOLE HANKS, producer J.D. HANKS, and afternoon host JEFF CONNELL will carry on in KASPER's absence.
