Nielsen: A Snapshot Of Music Festival Fans

According to NIELSEN’s "Audience Insights Report on Music Festivals," some 36% of the general U.S. population has now heard of COACHELLA, up from 22% in 2013, with a household reach of 9.5 million.

In a report on the three largest festivals -- COACHELLA, BONNAROO and LOLLAPALOOZA -- NIELSEN made a number of discoveries. LOLLAPALOOZA is the most well-known music festival overall, with 52% of the general populace having heard of the event and a houhsehold reach of 9.9 million. BONNAROO also has high awareness, with 21% of AMERICANS having heard of it and a household reach of five million.
Compared to the average music listener, festival fans are 64% more likely to call friends to let them hear the concert, 43% more likely to make purchases at the event, 27% more likely to post videos to social networks while attending and 35% more likely to text friends about the concert.
