For those of you who are usually “Waitin’ all day for SUNDAY night” during the NFL season, get ready for a new theme song to NBC-TV’s “SUNDAY Night Football.” ARISTA’s CARRIE UNDERWOOD has been performing the opening number for the last few years, but during the off-season, she teamed with CHRIS DESTEFANO, BRETT JAMES and PRISCILLA RENEA, writers of UNDERWOOD’s hit duet with MIRANDA LAMBERT on 2014’s “Somethin’ Bad,’ and reworked the tune into “Oh, SUNDAY Night.”
“SUNDAY Night Football” Exec. Producer FRED GAUDELLI told ASSOCIATED PRESS the original song lasted 10 years, “but I didn't know how much more we could stay with the song without it feeling routine." Added UNDERWOOD, "It has such a great stomp-clap, a 'We Will Rock You' kind of feel to it. This is such a high-energy song." The new version will coincide with the kickoff of SNF’s second decade.
