RTDNA Announces 2016 National Edward R. Murrow Award Winners

The RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION (RTDNA) has announced the 103 winners of the 45th annual national EDWARD R. MURROW AWARDS.  Winners will be recognized at a gala in NEW YORK on MONDAY, OCTOBER 10th.

Among the radio highlights, ABC NEWS RADIO won its third network Overall Excellence award in a row, along with Breaking News and Hard News honors; NPR took home awards in network categories for Investigative Reporting, Series, and Writing. CHICAGO PUBLIC MEDIA News-Talk WBEZ/CHICAGO and its "THIS AMERICAN LIFE" won for Continuing Coverage, and TAL won solo for Documentary. CBS RADIO NEWS won for network Newscast, ESPN RADIO won for Feature Reporting, and KQED, INC. News-Talk KQED/SAN FRANCISCO and the FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT REPORTING NETWORK won for Use of Sound.

In Small Market Radio, WITF, INC. News-Talk WITF/HARRISBURG was a double winner for Hard News and Use of Sound, while three stations won two awards each in the Large Market Radio division, MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS News-Talk WLRN/MIAMI, BOSTON UNIVERSITY News-Talk WBUR/BOSTON, and AMERICAN UNIVERSITY News-Talk WAMUWASHINGTON.

"We present the MURROW AWARDS not only to recognize outstanding journalism, but to inspire radio, television and digital newsrooms across the country," said RTDNA Executive Director MIKE CAVENDER. "Journalists can learn from each other and push each other to find new and better ways to serve their communities."
