WVXU.ORG's JOHN KIESEWETTER reports that NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY is placing its three FM stations, noncommercial Triple A WNKU/HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY-CINCINNATI and simulcast partners WNKN/MIDDLETOWN, OH, and WNKE/NEW BOSTON-PORTSMOUTH, OH, up for sale.
The report says that the stations have been placed with broker KALIL AND CO. and while "no decision has been made" to sell the stations, a sale is "very likely." The stations have received a $3.3 million subsidy from the college over the past five years, NKU Dir./Public Relations AMANDA NAGELEISEN told KIESEWETTER, and the school is presently running at an $8 million deficit.
