BMG U.S. Names Phil Sandhaus VP/Business Development For Countdown Media

BMG US has appointed industry veteran PHIL SANDHAUS Vice President of Business Development, COUNTDOWN MEDIA. Based in the L.A. office, he reports to the company's President Of Creative & Marketing LAURENT HUBERT. SANDHAUS will develop new areas of opportunities for digital distribution, licensing, sync, merchandising, reissues, brand and media partnerships and target acquisitions for COUNTDOWN MEDIA, an international music library with recording studios in the U.S., U.K. and GERMANY. Established over 40 years ago, COUNTDOWN has been the world's leading supplier of high-quality music recordings with more than 150,000 tracks of all music genres available for worldwide licensing for all uses. COUNTDOWN MEDIA includes the MEDIAPHON, DOBRE and EVEREST RECORDS catalogs, represents VOX RECORDS and has a licensing partnership with the iconic SUN RECORDS.
During his 30-plus-year career, SANDHAUS has held various roles within the industry and been involved in the management, strategic marketing and development of artists and their catalogs including THE BEATLES, MILES DAVIS, ELVIS COSTELLO, FRANK SINATRA and THE BEACH BOYS. He was also Creative Manager for DAVID BOWIE for music, film, and theatre, and a senior management executive on the worldwide album management for THE ROLLING STONES.
Prior management positions SANDHAUS has held include Head of Strategic Marketing and Product Development for the EMI-CAPITOL GROUP ENTERTAINMENT PROPERTIES DIVISION; Executive Vice President, TRIBECA MUSIC, ROBERT DE NIRO’s soundtrack label, as well as senior marketing positions at both CAPITOL RECORDS and COLUMBIA RECORDS. In addition, SANDHAUS has been involved in brand and media partnerships with companies such as McDONALD'S’, HASBRO, VICTORIA'S SECRET, PEPSI, FOX-TV, the NBA, the NHL, and others.
SANDHAUS is currently producing several films including “The Misty Copeland Story” for NEW LINE CINEMA/WARNER BROS. and "The Trial of the Catonsville Nine,",based on the life stories of anti-Vietnam War, civil rights and anti-nuclear activists, brothers and priests, DAN and PHIL BERRIGAN, and biopics and documentaries on JUDY GARLAND and EARTHA KITT. He served as Executive Producer of “M. Butterfly," the feature film version of the TONY AWARD-winning BROADWAY play.
