It was JULY 1996 that HARDDRIVE, a new program debuted for Rock radio Stations. Now many hours of programming later, the show is celebrating its 20th anniversary on the air.The show's original host and executive producer, LOU BRUTUS and ROXY MYZAL respectively, are still intact on the production team, and the milestone anniversary has inspired an outpouring of gratitude and accolades from all corners of the rock music industry.
HARDDRIVE with LOU BRUTUS is a two-hour weekly long-form program that contains new rock music, artist interviews, news and information on all things in the world of new rock music. It was developed 20 years ago by the award-winning producer ROXY MYZAL, who is both a music industry veteran and AMERICA’s leading rock radio producer. The show is designed for all rock radio formats, and the music on the program has evolved along with the ever-changing playlists of the show's 118 affiliates. UNITED STATIONS has been producing, distributing and handling all sales and affiliate marketing efforts for the program since JANUARY 2001.
The weekend program is produced and written by MYZAL, engineered and assembled by ZAK TRANESE and is hosted by well-known rock personality LOU BRUTUS, who has been an air talent at legendary stations including WMMR/PHILADELPHIA, WHJY/PROVIDENCE, WHFS/WASHINGTON, DC and WRCX/CHICAGO. Over the years, the program has proved to be instrumental in the careers of countless rock artists from KORN and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE to SLIPKNOT and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH.
The HARDDRIVE 20th anniversary is being celebrated with two special editions of the program. Airing this week is a look back at some of the very special early interviews conducted for the show, and then airing next week is an “Artists Salute hardDrive” episode, with participation from the members of CHEVELLE, SEVENDUST, POP EVIL, KORN, SLIPKNOT, 3 DOORS DOWN and more.
hardDrive has also spawned several brand extensions introduced by UNITED STATIONS over the years. In FEBRUARY 2007, USRN introduced a MONDAY through FRIDAY five-hour program called HARDDRIVE XL which still airs nightly on approximately 40 stations. In 2009, HARDDRIVE also launched the very first branded tour by a syndicated radio program, the HARDDRIVE LIVE TOUR, which visited over 40 cities that year. There have been a total of seven HARDDRIVE LIVE tours thus far. And in JULY 2014, a HARDDRIVE app was introduced. The app has thousands of downloads and features exclusive video, music news and information and interactivity with both artists and members of the show’s staff.
To celebrate HARDDRIVE's 20th, there's a special page on the show’s website reflecting on the anniversary and sharing thoughts from the show’s staff, old playlists, archival photographs and more. Check it out here.
