The entire WASHINGTON ADVENTIST Contemporary Christian WGTS (91.9)/WASHINGTON, D.C. team recently headed out in force to serve ice cream to listeners all across the WASHINGTON, D.C. area.
Each day the team landed in a different city. They set-up a remote broadcast booth, an ice cream serving station and an area where kids could play games and blow bubbles.
Many listeners stopped to share stories of how the station has encouraged them in tough times and helped them see good in the world even in light of the recent violence in our country. WGTS 91.9 staffers also took the time to pray with numerous listeners.
Morning Show Host/Promotions Dir. JERRY WOODS said, "We wanted to find an easy way to connect with the community over the summer. We figured just about everyone likes ice cream, so it would work. During the inaugural event last year we saw just over 3,000 people. This year that number doubled to over 6,000 people. It’s an incredible way to minister, one ice cream bar at a time."
Assistant Promotions Dir. JOEY NINO added, "Hundreds of miles, 95 degree heat and thousands of listeners. It was totally worth it. We’re all tired, but it’s an awesome kind of tired."
