ESPN is once again teaming with INTERSCOPE to use the label’s artists as the music on the network's college football coverage. The licensing partnership is in its second year and includes music from UNIVERSAL NASHVILLE, DOWNTOWN RECORDS, and UNIVERSAL LATIN. The music is led by the collaboration between X AMBASSADORS and TOM MORELLO, "Collider," which ESPN will use throughout the season. Other artists to be heard on the programming include ALOE BLACC, BAND OF HORSES, DIERKS BENTLEY, DJ SNAKE, FERGIE, J BALVIN, JAMIE N COMMONS, KEITH URBAN, LITTLE BIG TOWN, ONEREPUBLIC, SCHOOLBOYQ, SELENA GOMEZ, MIIKE SNOW, THE BAND PERRY, THE STRUTS, ZEDD and more.
“This music partnership with INTERSCOPE truly benefits both parties,” said ESPN music director KEVIN WILSON. “It allows college football and the artists to reach each other’s fans in a very organic way. It has been said before, and still rings true: music and sports are continuously intertwined.”
“We are beyond excited to continue the ESPN/INTERSCOPE relationship for a second straight college football season,” said INTERSCOPE GEFFEN A&M RECORDS Vice Chairman STEVE BERMAN. “ESPN has created some incredible moments for our artists' music and it's the perfect place and audience to showcase the diversity of our roster.”
“Each team’s road to the College Football Playoff begins on opening weekend and throughout the season those individual paths will intersect -- or collide -- with one another,” said ESPN senior director of marketing EMEKA OFODILE. “That is why 'Collider' is the perfect soundtrack for our regular season campaign as its title and lyrics foreshadow the pinnacle moments of the season-long journey which will end at the College Football Playoff.”
The network will work with INTERSCOPE to feature debuts from major artists on "New Music FRIDAYs"; also on tap will be a custom cover of QUEEN's "We Will Rock You" by THE STRUTS, who will also be heard with "Put Your Hands Up." JAMIE N COMMONS' "Glory" will be prominent on the SEC NETWORK, while THE BAND PERRY will debut their single "Comeback Kid" during the SEPTEMBER 10th SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL "PILOT FLYING J BATTLE AT BRISTOL" to air on ABC and DJ SNAKE's "The Half" will be used on FRIDAY night game telecasts in custom remix form.
