The WALL STREET JOURNAL reports that GAWKER MEDIA and HULK HOGAN are in settlement talks over the $140 million judgment HOGAN won from GAWKER, publisher NICK DENTON, and former editor A.J. DAULERIO. The talks are similar to previous attempts to settle the judgment, and the JOURNAL notes that the previous attempts "led nowhere."
GAWKER MEDIA is being auctioned next week after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in JUNE; the case, revolving around the publication of a sex tape showing HOGAN and the wife of BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE, gained additional controversy when SILICON VALLEY billionaire PETER THIEL was revealed to have financially backed HOGAN and other plaintiffs in suits against GAWKER, which had effectively outed him in a previous article.
