Garth Brooks Lays Out Plans For Pearl Records, Promotion Team In 'The Tennessean'

According to a report from THE TENNESSEAN, GARTH BROOKS has officially parted ways with SONY MUSIC NASHVILLE's RCA NASHVILLE imprint following the expiration of his contract with the label. With two new albums on the horizon for the FALL, BROOKS intends to move forward by releasing the projects via his own label, PEARL RECORDS.
"I've always enjoyed being part of a team," BROOKS told THE TENNESSEAN. "I think you can always be part of something bigger with a team than you can be by yourself. Would I love to be part of a label group? Sure I would. But with the new streaming income now, I can't make them money. There's a lot of different ways to promote now and a lot of options that are open, and I feel very, very lucky about that. The word the management group is using is collision or connectivity -- how do you put all of those things together and make them work toward the music? They're not just individual things out there going -- they all tie together."
BROOKS has recently realigned pieces of his support team, signing with WILLIAM MORRIS ENDEAVOR (WME) for booking (NET NEWS 6/2), adding THE GREENROOM PR for publicity to work alongside his existing publicity team at NANCY SELTZER & ASSOCIATES (NET NEWS 7/7), and aligning with SIRIUSXM to launch "THE GARTH CHANNEL" next MONTH (NET NEWS 7/7). BROOKS explained to THE TENNESSEAN that he is working to solidify a deal with a streaming partner with GHOSTTUNES possibly being absorbed into a larger company and is also working on a project with television sports. Tasked with hiring the radio promotion staff to promote his new music and put the pieces together will be radio and records veteran MANDY MCCORMACK, who has been working with BROOKS and TRISHA YEARWOOD in varying capacities as part of the "GARTH BROOKS WORLD TOUR WITH TRISHA YEARWOOD" team (NET NEWS 1/7/15).
