20th CENTURY FOX CONSUMER PRODUCTS and LOU ADLER have appointed SONY's ARTIST LEGACY GROUP to act as U.S. brand representative for the classic cult film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," it was announced today by ALG CEO ASHLEY AUSTIN.
ALG will collaborate closely with FOX, the film’s distributor, and executive producer ADLER to help introduce the “absolute pleasure” of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" to a new generation through licensing and branding strategies including high-end merchandise collections.
The partnership will further the iconic film brand across a variety of categories including luxury apparel, lingerie, footwear, accessories, jewelry, timepieces, gifts and novelties, food and beverage, cosmetics and emojis. The first licensing opportunity curated by ALG, a "Rocky Horror"-inspired lingerie capsule collection by HANKY PANKY LTD.. as part of its AFTER MIDNIGHT line, hits stores this fall.
Commented LOU ADLER: “I’m not a connoisseur of lingerie, except as an observer, so when the idea for HANKY PANKY to do a line inspired by 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' was presented to me by ASHLEY and SCOTT at ALG, I asked three ladies what they thought of it, and all three said they were wearing HANKY PANKY at the moment, that was good enough for me. The HANKY PANKY AFTER MIDNIGHT line is a perfect match, just as ALG has been a perfect match for us.”
ALG’s client list includes iconic NEW YORK music venue MAX'S KANSAS CITY, legendary music photographer MICK ROCK, DEAN MARTIN and the ESTATE of THE WHO drummer KEITH MOON.
"'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' is a truly unique film property and its impact on pop culture is unprecedented,” says ASHLEY AUSTIN. “ALG is thrilled to work closely with FOX and LOU ADLER to create exciting new collaborations in a wide array of licensing categories for this beloved and iconic film."
The brand-new production of the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again," will air THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20th on FOX (8-10p ET/PT). The special two-hour musical event stars EMMY-nominated LAVERNE COX in the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter made famous by TIM CURRY in the original.
Since its humble beginnings as a musical stage production, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" continues to be a global touchstone more than 40 years after it first premiered, with the longest-running theatrical release of any film in history. In 2005, the film was selected for preservation by the LIBRARY OF CONGRESS’ NATIONAL FILM REGISTRY.
