August 16, 2016 at 1:13 PM (PT)
BRITNEY SPEARS will return to the MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS stage for the first time in a decade when she joins rising star G-EAZY for the world premiere of "Make Me...," from her new studio album, "Glory," at NEW YORK's MADISON SQUARE GARDEN on SUNDAY, AUGUST 28th at 9p (ET/PT). The album is released two days earlier, FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th.
The appearance is the first time fans will see a live performance from SPEARS' new album, set for release by RCA RECORDS. SPEARS made the announcement across social media with a video created by experimental L.A.-based director RADICAL FRIEND, in which she reflects on the VMAs as a python winds through a sultry neon-lit room with remnants of her past VMA performances.
SPEARS and G-EAZY join previously announced performer and 2016 “VIDEO VANGUARD” recipient RIHANNA for this year’s show. Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
