Michigan Station Changes Hands, Receiver Appointed For Oregon Combo

WGHN, INC. is selling News-Talk WKLA-F (formerly WMLQ)/LUDINGTON, MI to SYNERGY MEDIA, INC for $30,000. SYNERGY MEDIA has also restructured its ownership, with CRAIG BOWMAN transferring 17% of the company to 48% owner RICHARD YOUNG, giving YOUNG 95% of the stock, BOWMAN 1%, and TODD MOHR 4%. SYNERGY owns Country WKZC (THE BIG DOG)/SCOTTVILLE, MI.
In other filings with the FCC, a receiver has been appointed for HARNEY COUNTY RADIO, LLC, licensee of Silent KBNH-A and KORC/BURNS, OR. TONI CARSON was appointed receiver by order of the OREGON Circuit Court for HARNEY COUNTY.
COMMUNITY BROADCASTING, INC. is selling K260BK/HASTINGS, NE to LEGACY COMMUNICATIONS, LLC for $40,000.
THE CROMWELL GROUP, INC. OF ILLINOIS is selling W234CI/DECATUR, IL to J. BARRY WILLIAMS for $20,000 ($333.33/month for 60 months). The buyer plans to move the translator to rebroadcast an AM station unnamed in the contract of sale or filing.
EAST INDIAN MUSIC ACADEMY OF MONUMENT has applied for an extension of its Silent STA for KEIM-LP/MONUMENT, CO due to further equipment failure.
PITTMAN BROADCASTING SERVICES, LLC has requested a Silent STA for WOMN-A/FRANKLINTON, LA due to the storms in LOUISIANA that caused several thousand dollars of damage to the station's transmitter site.
AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL BROADCASTING, INC. has filed for Silent STAs for KELC, KQMC and K228EL/HAWTHORNE, NV, the former due to "several problems with maintaining operations" at its tower site and the translator after losing its program source and while it awaits a sale and move to SACRAMENTO.
IRON HORSE CHRISTIAN YOUTH RANCH has applied for an extension of its Silent STA for KHYR-LP/FALCON, CO while it moves to a less expensive tower site.
And LAURA W. SINTON has closed on the transfer of 40% of SUNRIVER BROADCASTING CORP., licensee of Sports KCOE (FOX SPORTS 94.9 CENTRAL OREGON)/TERREBONNE, OR, to her brother CHARLES WILKINSON. WILKINSON now holds 90% and SINTON 10% of the licensee.
Also, in a Schedule 13D filing with the SEC, CBS CORP. and SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM notified the Commission that CBS has disposed of its shares in SBS as of AUGUST 18th. In an accompanying Schedule 13D, SBS and Chairman RAUL ALARCON said that SBS, through AAA TRUST, had bought back 760,000 shares (380,000 shares of Series C Convertible Preferred Stock, convertible into two shares each, about 10.3% of SBS' Class A and B Common Stock upon conversion) In the latter filing, SBS stated that ALARCON and CBS began talks about the stock sale in JUNE and that he "believes the price was attractive"; CBS bought the shares in 2004.

And while it has not filed a Silent STA with the FCC, UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO noncommercial WHPK/CHICAGO has been off the air since AUGUST 5th and will be off the air until at least AUGUST 29th due to a bedbug infestation, reports DNAINFO CHICAGO.
