A patent company is suing several automobile manufacturers in the patent-suit haven of the Eastern District of TEXAS, asserting patents for digital audio and display of program information that it says have been infringed upon by the car companies' in-dash satellite radio systems. The patents were obtained in 2011 by GREGORY KNOX, who filed the original application in 1997.
The suits have been filed over the course of several months against NISSAN, HONDA, GENERAL MOTORS, and, this week, MERCEDES-BENZ and BMW. A case against BEST BUY for selling an ALPINE in-dash aftermarket digital receiver was dismissed on JUNE 30th.
