TOM PETTY will be honored as the 2017 MUSICARES PERSON OF THE YEAR for his charitable work for the homeless at a dinner and concert on FEBRUARY 10th, two days before the 59th annual GRAMMY AWARDS. The event will benefit the RECORDING ACADEMY's organization to help musicians in need. Participants in the concert will be revealed at a later date.
Commented PETTY: "I am so very pleased to be honored as the MUSICARES PERSON OF THE YEAR. I have so much respect for this organization, which really does care about the people in our industry. I myself know many people who MUSICARES has aided in desperate situations. Again, let me say this is a true honor."
PETTY and his wife DANA were given the MIDNIGHT MISSION AWARD in 2011, from the organization which offers emergency help and drug and alcohol assistance programs for the homeless in the LOS ANGLES area.
