Wisconsin Host Walks Off Show, Citing Political Climate

MID-WEST FAMILY BROADCASTING Sports WAYY-A-W286CK/EAU CLAIRE, WI morning co-host JOHN MURPHY abruptly walked off his show THURSDAY morning (10/14), saying that the political climate and discourse has led him to be "through doing the show as it is."
The EAU CLAIRE LEADER TELEGRAM reports that MURPHY, host of the morning show for 14 years, was solo at the time (15 minutes before the show's scheduled end), with cohost BOB BOSOLD away for an assignment, and that midday hosts LUC ANTHONY and DAN KASPER came in early after a commercial to finish the show.
“It started with a lot of TRUMP and CLINTON stuff, but now that same kind of vitriol is starting to permeate our local races and local issues,” MURPHY, who also serves as the cluster's Promotions Coordinator, told the LEADER TELEGRAM. “After a while, day after day and week after week, that starts to wear on you.” He added that he hoped the company could find another role for him that might include hosting a show with a different format.
