One of the banes of ATLANTA-based syndicated THE BERT SHOW host BERT WEISS's life is that he has long been known for his perpetual sports jinx. Local ATLANTA venues, fans and sports teams, including kid’s soccer, college ball and pro football, have politely asked WEISS to not show up to games, wear their team’s jerseys, and publicly root for them due to his long-standing jinx.
After years of trying to deny and even attempting to get rid of his bad luck, WEISS has officially embraced his jinx and is using it for good on a local level. After the ATLANTA FALCONS’ victory against the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS on JANUARY 14th, WEISS looked to the GREEN BAY PACKERS as his team-of-choice for yesterday’s big game in hopes it would help provide indirect support to the home team.
For the entire week leading up to their JANUARY 22nd game, WEISS completely embraced the team by changing his TWITTER avatar to the team’s logo, sporting the PACKERS’ jersey and even attending their official pep rally in ATLANTA. The FALCONS won on SUNDAY, JANUARY 22nd as they won the NFC Championship by defeating the GREEN BAY PACKERS, so in honor of keeping up with the jinx tradition, he celebrated by jumping on a flight to BOSTON after the ATLANTA victory to celebrate the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS advancement to the big game.
Donned in NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS gear, WEISS spent the majority of his visit in the city of BOSTON celebrating the team’s victory as a newly-found fan, visiting with fellow supporters and documenting his travels on his TWITTER profile in hopes it would continue indirectly helping the ATLANTA FALCONS remain victorious during next month’s big game.
WEISS surprised the rest of his cast with the news of his travels over the phone call and on-air this morning, THE BERT SHOW’s co-host KRISTIN KLINGSHIRN tells WEISS, “There is no other man on this earth that has taken a jinx as far as you have.”
