The FCC database continued to be quiet for station sales transactions TODAY (2/10), with a few applications for extensions of Silent STAs and a handful of deal closings but no new deals appearing.
Among the filings, AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION has requested an extension of its Silent STA for WAQG/OZARK, AL while its tower is rebuilt.
Receiver DENNIS WALLACE has applied for an extension of the Silent STAs for KIXK/WHEATLAND, MO and KWUL (formerly KXQX)/ELSBERRY, MO while a plan to operate the station is formulated. WALLACE took over the stations from RANDY WACHTER's BROADCAST ENTERPRISES, INC. last year,
PACIFICSTAR MEDIA CORPORATION has closed on the sale of Korean WPBS-A (ATLANTA RADIO KOREA)/CONYERS, GA to VANESSA NGUYEN for $700,000. WPBS has been programmed by KYUNG SOOK PARK's ATLANTA RADIO KOREA, INC., which recently bought crosstown WQXI-A/ATLANTA.
CALVARY CHAPEL OF COSTA MESA, INC. has closed on the sale of K293BZ/BEAUMONT, CA (now K256CX/LOS ANGELES) to ABC RADIO LOS ANGELES ASSETS, LLC for $45,000. The buyer is moving the translator to rebroadcast RADIO DISNEY's KDIS-A/PASADENA-LOS ANGELES.
And CUMULUS spinoff entity JOULE BROADCASTING, LLC, trustee for the CADET DIVESTITURE TRUST, has closed on the sale of News-Talk simulcast WJXY-A/CONWAY-MYRTLE BEACH, SC and WXJY/GEORGETOWN, SC to COLONIAL RADIO GROUP, INC. for $240,000. The News-Talk format has been yanked from the stations and a "wheel of formats" stunt is airing on WJXY, with COLONIAL Chairman/CEO Jeff Andrulonis saying, “With VALENTINE’S DAY coming up, we’ve thought about an all love song format featuring AIR SUPPLY, BARRY MANILOW, and even yacht rock from the '70s. We’d call it LOVELAND 93.9FM. But then again, I’m a PENNSYLVANIA native, so the all-polka format is appealing to me. 93.9FM THE ACCORDIAN would play EDDIE STANKEY, FRANKIE YANKOVIC and the PENNSYLVANIA Polka. We might even get wild and crazy and play some LAWRENCE WELK and punk polka from POLKACIDE. There are literally tens of people in the MYRTLE BEACH area who’d love THE ACCORDIAN.” All-ALABAMA, All-CHRISTMAS, and all ELVIS formats are also in the rotation with the real format coming on MONDAY (2/13) at 3p (ET). WXJY, meanwhile, has flipped to Gospel as 93.7 REJOICE FM.
