Another longtime media columnist is leaving the daily newspaper scene with the retirement of MARK WASHBURN from the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER TODAY (3/31).
WASHBURN has been covering radio and TV for the OBSERVER since 2000 after joining the paper from the MIAMI HERALD, where he served as State Editor.
He is one of four longtime OBSERVER staffers who are leaving the MCCLATCHY-owned paper, along with medical reporter KAREN GARLOCH, sportswriter DAVID SCOTT, and photographer TODD SUMLIN, as Managing Editor SHERRY CHISENHALL takes over as Editor of the paper from RICK THAMES as of TOMORROW (4/1).
