The NAB EDUCATION FOUNDATION has announced the winners of its 2017 Celebration of Service to America Awards, to be bestowed JUNE 20th at a dinner in WASHINGTON, D.C..
“AMERICA’s broadcasters play a unique role serving local communities with quality news, the most popular entertainment and lifeline information in times of emergency,” said NABEF President MARCELLUS ALEXANDER. “The collective efforts of this year's STA winners reflect a remarkable commitment to addressing public health crises, investigative journalism and community service."
The honorees:
- President's Special Award: TEGNA NBC affiliate WXIA-TV (11 ALIVE)/ATLANTA
- Television Award: GRAHAM MEDIA GROUP NBC affiliate WDIV-TV/DETROIT
- Service to Children Awards: Radio: COX MEDIA GROUP Urban WEDR (99 JAMZ)/MIAMI; Television: HEARST ABC affiliate WMUR-TV/MANCHESTER, NH
- Service to Community Awards: Radio: EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION Contemporary Christian KZLV (K-LOVE)/SAN ANTONIO; Television: CAPITOL BROADCASTING CO. NBC affiliate WRAL-TV/RALEIGH
