Minor league hockey's CAROLINA THUNDERBIRDS will air on two radio stations this season, the FEDERAL HOCKEY LEAGUE franchise has announced. The games will air on SOUTHERN BROADCAST MEDIA Classic Hits WTOB-A-W242CC/WINSTON-SALEM and on STATESVILLE FAMILY RADIO Classic Country WAME-A-W225BD (REAL COUNTRY 92.9)/STATESVILLE, NC this season, with AL KESSLER handling play-by-play.
THUNDERBIRDS GM SCOTT BRAND said, “We believe that this move (to add WAME) will help to strengthen our commitment to the TRIAD. We are excited to be able to bring our games to more fans through the reach of WAME.” The THUNDERBIRDS are an expansion team in the seven-club FHL.
