CHRIS CHRISTIE's first fill-in day this week on CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK on MONDAY afternoon featured the embattled NEW JERSEY Governor trading insults with callers, calling HILLARY CLINTON a "criminal," and talking sports. CHRISTIE and midday co-host EVAN ROBERTS are filling in for the vacationing MIKE FRANCESA TODAY as well.
Some of CHRISTIE's callers ripped the Governor for his now-infamous "Beachgate" incident, in which he and his family used a beach house at ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK while the park itself was closed to the public due to a state government shutdown. One caller, "MIKE from MONTCLAIR," called CHRISTIE a "bully" and a "fat ass"; CHRISTIE, calling MIKE a "bum," said that he loves "getting calls from Communists in MONTCLAIR," a mostly affluent and generally liberal NORTH JERSEY city near NEW YORK. Responding to another caller's criticism of President TRUMP, CHRISTIE said that he is "relieved we don't have a criminal in the WHITE HOUSE like HILARY CLINTON."
Despite the political calls, CHRISTIE also took on fantasy baseball, the YANKEES' need for pitching, the KNICKS' woes under owner JAMES DOLAN, and other sports topics.
