Following its debut earlier this summer, NYC-based online radio station and music discovery platform SATORI has launched two weekly radio shows dedicated to the local music scene and mixtape culture.
Kicking off in early AUGUST, "The Local" and "The SATORI Mixtape Hour" will celebrate a cross-genre mix of the best of noteworthy and emerging artists and DJs from NEW YORK CITY. SATORI champions local artists and neighborhood hotspots alike while providing a carefully curated soundtrack to the city, from indie-rock to hip-hop and EDM.
Premiering SUNDAY, AUGUST 6th at 8p (ET) and airing for an hour every SUNDAY thereafter, "The Local" will feature music exclusively from NYC artists and bands, spanning all genres and influences. Hosted by SATORI Director/Music Content JOEL WEISS and produced by GAVIN POMERANTZ, who brings experience from NYC-based indie labels and artist management, the show will invite local musicians into its BROOKLYN-based studio for interviews and plans to support local venues and shows. The first show will include support for local acts such as LOOSE BUTTONS, BLOOD CULTURES, WHITE CLIFFS, ME NOT YOU and THE MYSTERY LIGHTS. NYC-based artists looking for airplay can submit music to GavinP@Satori-NYC.com.
"The SATORI Mixtape Hour" will debut on FRIDAY, AUGUST 11th at 10p (ET) and air for one hour every FRIDAY night. The show will focus on NYC-based emerging and recognized urban music DJs representing some of the best in mixtape culture. Each week will feature a new DJ spinning their own curated, hour-long set showcasing new and old school hip-hop alike. The show kicks off with GOOD REVEREND DR. on AUGUST 11th and BENHAMEEN on AUGUST 18th.
SATORI has partnered with the BROOKLYN BOWL for a promotion around its popular THURSDAY night BOWL TRAIN show, curated by the legendary DJ QUESTLOVE. Beginning AUGUST 3rd and continuing every THURSDAY night through the end of SEPTEMBER, any fan can present their SATORI app at the door for free entry to the show. Doors open at 11p and shows begin at 11:30p weekly, excluding AUGUST 31st when the venue is closed.
Following its debut appearance at GOVERNOR'S BALL in JUNE, SATORI’s own SATMOBILE has been turning up across the city this summer, stopping by live shows, pop-up shops, food festivals and more. SATORI will be making upcoming appearances around NYC, including DECLAN McKENNA AUGUST 8th at one of the final shows at WEBSTER HALL, KHALID at EAST RIVER PARK AMPHITHEATRE on AUGUST 12th, LIL UZI VERT at THE PARAMOUNT on AUGUST 14th and multiple SUMMERSTAGE shows at CENTRAL PARK, including THE REVIVALISTS (8/10), THE HEAD AND THE HEART (9/21) and THE WAR ON DRUGS (9/22).
