L.A. Podfest Opens Today

This Weekend

TODAY (10/6) is the first day of the three-day LOS ANGELES PODCAST FESTIVAL AND PODCAST PROS CONFERENCE, a/k/a LA PODFEST, taking place through SUNDAY at the MILLENNIUM BILTMORE HOTEL in downtown LOS ANGELES.

Today's podcast lineup includes the last ever (for now) episode of GREG BEHRENDT and DAVE ANTHONY's "WALKING THE ROOM," BERT KREISCHER's "THE BERTCAST," political podcast "CHAPO TRAP HOUSE," BEHRENDT and KAY HANLEY's "ROCK OUT WITH YOUR DOC OUT," "LEFT COAST," "ROAD STORIES WITH MURRAY VALERIANO," and BOBBY LEE and KHALYLA's "TIGERBELLY," plus four panels in the Podcast Pros track and opening parties before and after the tapings.  A screening of the movie "KILLING GUNTHER" has been added to the schedule for 11p (PT).

A full day of podcasts and panels is scheduled for SATURDAY, including JON LOVETT's "LOVETT OR LEAVE IT," JACKIE KASHIAN's "THE DORK FOREST," KAREN KILGARIFF and GEORGIA HARDSTARK's "MY FAVORITE MURDER," and many others, plus a screening of the podcasting documentary "EAR BUDS" and an "All-Star Podsmash" comedy event emceed by event co-founder GRAHAM ELWOOD with KASHIAN, KILGARIFF, MARC MARON, JIMMY DORE, ERIN FOLEY, BRYAN COOK, and "Sen. Richard Martin" (a/k/a PAUL GILMARTIN).

And on SUNDAY, the podcasts include JIMMY PARDO's "NEVER NOT FUNNY," GILMARTIN's "MENTAL ILLNESS HAPPY HOUR," "ALISON ROSEN IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND," and DOUG BENSON's "DOUG LOVES MOVIES,' along with several more panels and a closing session with ANTHONY, ELWOOD, and CHRIS MANCINI discussing the history of the PODFEST, which may be coming to a close after this year's event.
