Entertainment magazine VARIETY has taken a deep-dive into the rapidly evolving cultural sea change underway in NASHVILLE and with Country music. Penned by veteran music/entertainment journalist CHRIS WILLMAN, the three-part series features some of MUSIC CITY's most prominent industry figures.
A roundtable discussion, "Living Gay In Nashville," includes SANDBOX ENTERTAINMENT President JASON OWEN; producer/songwriter/publisher SHANE MCANALLY; nationally syndicated radio host and COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME member BLAIR GARNER; and artist CHELY WRIGHT.
Former CMT President BRIAN PHILIPS, GARNER, and MCANALLY discuss issue-oriented music and its acceptance in "Can Country Music And 'Message Songs' Get Along." Also, there's a thorough examination of the recent ouster of MIKE HUCKABEE from the COUNTRY MUSIC FOUNDATION (NET NEWS 3/1), a piece that makes a strong case that a cultural revolution is, indeed, underway in NASHVILLE.
