Yvonne Staples of The Staple Singers Has Died

ALL ACCESS extends condolences to friends and family of YVONNE STAPLES of THE STAPLES SINGERS, she passed away in her hometown of CHICAGO, reports the CHICAGO-SUN TIMES.

The 80-year old sang on hits such as "Respect Yourself," "I'll Take You There," and "Heavy Makes You Happy.”  She performed with her sisters, MAVIS, CLEOTHA, and their father ROBUCK “POPS” STAPLES. 

THE STAPLE SINGERS made more than 30 albums and were inducted into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in 1999.
