PEARL RECORDS' GARTH BROOKS last night (4/29) closed out the 2018 STAGECOACH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL, a massive, three-day festival which drew an estimated 80,000 fans to the EMPIRE POLO CLUB in INDIO, CA. BMLG RECORDS' FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE and CAPITOL NASHVILLE's KEITH URBAN headlined FRIDAY night (4/27) and SATURDAY (4/28), respectively. The entire lineup, however, numbered greater than 50 artists, covering Country's broad spectrum, while touching on Americana music, too.
MCA's KACEY MUSGRAVES preceded URBAN's closing set on SATURDAY, with MUSGRAVES focusing on her latest album, "Golden Hour." Later, URBAN recruited the services of EMI NASHVILLE's BROTHERS OSBORNE for a sizzling cover of DWIGHT YOAKAM's "Fast As You," which WHEELHOUSE trio RUNAWAY JUNE also included in their SUNDAY (4/29) set. Ironically, YOAKAM was also featured at this year's STAGECOACH FESTIVAL, and, as he has done for years, covered songs from two of his heroes, BAKERSFIELD sound architects MERLE HAGGARD and BUCK OWENS. And, while BROOKS included his signature standard "Friends in Low Places" SUNDAY night, it wasn't the only time STAGECOACH fans heard the song; WARNER BROS./WEA artist MORGAN EVANS shared his rendition of the classic during a performance earlier in the weekend.
The SIRIUSXM SPOTLIGHT STAGE showcased up-and-coming artists, including CARLY PEARCE, ASHLEY MCBRYDE, ADAM DOLEAC, SETH ENNIS, and others. In addition to BROOKS' closing set, ALL ACCESS hears additional buzz coming from STAGECOACH this weekend included BRETT YOUNG, BRANDY CLARK, BROTHERS OSBORNE, CODY JINKS, JORDAN DAVIS, KELSEA BALLERINI, MIDLAND, LILLIE MAE, and LINDSAY ELL. The 2018 edition was the 12th STAGECOACH FESTIVAL, presented annually by GOLDENVOICE, THE MESSINA GROUP, and MOORE ENTERTAINMENT.
