CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WXXL/ORLANDO PD TOMMY CHUCK has been named PD of Top 40 sister WFLZ/TAMPA, which he will join after the first of the year. He replaces KANE, who recently transferred to mornings at WIHT/WASHINGTON (NET NEWS 11/1). CHUCK's other experience includes WQEN/BIRMINGHAM and WKXJ (KISS)/CHATTANOOGA.
Said CLEAR CHANNEL Regional VP/Programming and TAMPA OM DOUG HAMAND, "TOMMY and I worked together for three years at CLEAR CHANNEL/BIRMINGHAM, where he showed great ability in compelling promotions, outstanding product execution, passion and a huge heart!"
CHUCK told ALL ACCESS, "I'm sad that my time in ORLANDO was so short. LINDA BYRD and CHRIS KAMPMIER are the best GM and OM a PD could ever work for. Whoever replaces me at WXXL is walking into a great environment with a great team. It's really hard to leave them.
"As for TAMPA, it's hard to put into words what it feels like to see your name next to huge call letters like WFLZ. I'm giddy. Thanks so much to TOM SCHURR, MARC CHASE, DAN DILORETO, DOUG HAMAND and BRAD HARDIN for putting their trust in me."
