THE KELLAR RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE in BOONE, NC kicks off TODAY (6/11) with CURTIS MEDIA/RALEIGH Pres./COO TRIP SAVERY running the first session, "Now Is The Time To Start Thinking Like A Pro", following opening comments from APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY Vice Provost Dr. MARK GINN, Dean Of The College Of Fine And Applied Arts. and Dr. PHYLLIS KLODA and Chair of the Department of Communication Dr. JEAN DEHART.
Over the coming ten-day immersion into "all things radio," the syndicated ACE AND TJ MORNING SHOW will broadcast from the Institute, with the students as the live studio audience.
Over 40 veteran broadcasters from BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP, ENTERCOM, CURTIS MEDIA, iHEART, CAPITOL BROADCASTING and others will be leading sessions. Young broadcasters who are former students of the Institute will also lead sessions, which includes CHRIS KROEGER, the new Play-by-Play announcer of the NBA CHARLOTTE HORNETS, CAMERON MOORE, midday talent for WNKS/CHARLOTTE; PAM PATTON, Account Executive for BEASLEY MEDIA GROUP/FAYETTEVILLE, NC; BRADLEE MIKESKA, Promotions Director at WHQC/CHARLOTTE and HAYDEN WAUGH, Sales Assistant at ENTERCOM/CHARLOTTE.
The only day off-campus has the students touring the CAROLINA PANTHERS facility and learning from Play-by-Play Announcer MICK MIXON, then to CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY with the Voice and President of PERFORMANCE RACING NETWORK, DOUG RICE, doing a session for the students and taking them around the track at 100 mph.
Twenty-five students from four universities have been accepted into the Institute. There are no breakout sessions; every student will be in every session, including the RAB Radio Marketing Professional Certification course

THE KELLAR RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE at APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY starts in NC as the BEASLEY RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE continues this week at EMERSON COLLEGE in BOSTON, with the TAB RADIO TALENT INSTITUTE beginning next week at the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE.
